Proxy Filtering Policy
By default, internet web access provided by MDECA is filtered
using
CONTENT KEEPER by Content Keeper Technologies. Content Keeper specializes in scalable, fault-tolerant secure Web gateway solutions for large enterprise, Government and Education. Content Keeper provides delegated administration so that school districts can manage their own URL filtering and reporting.
Schools are required by law to block inappropriate content,
for more information see: Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
To submit a URL for analysts at Content Keeper go to: URL Consideration
.

Web Filtering Circumvention and/or Modification
Upon contact, MDECA will immediately block any obvious pornographic web site.
Proxy Bypass
A Proxy Bypass may be issued. This requires the submission of a
Unicenter Help Desk Ticket from authorized district personnel such as the technology director or superintendent. Please include the designated employee's
NAME, TITLE, REASON
and
STATIC IP ADDRESS. Upon receipt of the request, MDECA will contact the user or school authority, whoever is appropriate, with the override account information and instructions on its use.
Delegated Administration
A district may choose to maintain a custom filter that may specifically override any of the MDECA default filter settings including the blocking/unblocking of individual web sites. A district must designate an individual who will be responsible for this custom filter. That person should contact Chris Knodel at MDECA
knodel@mdeca.org 937-223-4980.
